Join the AI Workshop and learn to build real-world apps with AI. A hands-on, practical program to level up your skills.

There is a difference when using match and exec without groups: the first item in the array is not the whole matched string, but the match itself:

/hey|ho/.exec('hey') // [ "hey" ]

/(hey).(ho)/.exec('hey ho') // [ "hey ho", "hey", "ho" ]
